ENTREPRENEUR-sportsman Jimzon Trangia emerged champion in the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ADSSCAT) President Chess Tournament held in ADSSCAT, Agusan del Sur over the weekend.
Trangia, one of Davao City's representatives in the recent Philippine National Games (PNG) chess tournament in Cebu City and the chief executive officer (CEO) of Jimzon Pomade, beat National Master (NM) Alex Lupian in the sixth round to secure the rapid event title.
Lupian, who was unbeaten after five rounds, only needed a draw over Trangia to take the crown. Trangia, however, gave his best to seal the win.
Trangia and Lupian has an identical 6.0 points after round the seven-round Swiss System Format chessfest but the former won via superior tie-break.
"I'm so happy kasi atleast nagbunga lahat ng preparations ko," the champion said in an interview.
Trangia also shared that he gets his strength from the people who believes in him.
"My inspirations are my loved ones who unceasingly support me all the way. I am also very thankful to God for this achievement," the young CEO said.
Lupian, however, landed at the second spot while Rodrigo Catayas, Jun Mark Baldesimo, and Harrison Maamo, who also scored 6.0 points each, occupied the next three places.
Meanwhile, Jeca Verula was named the top female as Kent Muanay was hailed the top under 12.
Kester Pareja was the top under 16.
