DAVAO Aguilas Football Club (FC) star players Phil and James Younghusbands were all praise to Dabawenyo coach Melchor Anzures who recently took over head coaching duties of the only Mindanao-based team in the ongoing Philippine Football League.
Phil said during Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao that the team has a good relationship with him.
"You must be very proud of him," Phil said, pertaining to Anzures who hails from Davao City. He also said that the latter is very open and very friendly.
He added, "Everyone has nothing bad to say about Coach Mel. His communication is becoming more active. He is picking up on things others may have not noticed. It's always great to have his inputs."
James, for his part, said, "Coach is fantastic! Him stepping in... he is easy to talk to. His communication is very good to us players."
He also said that being from Davao, Anzures made them even more feel welcomed here where they have been training the past few days prior to their encounter with defending champion Ceres Negros FC set at 4 p.m., Saturday, July 14, at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in Tagum City.
Anzures, meanwhile, said it has been a great privilege for him to be coaching the Davao Aguilas FC and that he has not encountered any problem with the players since he moved up from assistant to head coach in May.
"They follow instructions. It's easy to handle them," Anzures, who was confident that the team is ready to battle Ceres, said.
