THE holiday season is a time of togetherness, celebration, and generosity. While families gather to exchange gifts, many communities embrace Christmas as a season for collective giving, spreading joy and support to those in need.
One inspiring example of this spirit is NCCC Supermarket’s recent gift-giving outreach at the House of Hope Foundation for Children with Cancer, Inc. in Davao City on December 3, 2024.
In celebration of its 46th anniversary, NCCC Supermarket, through its corporate social responsibility program NCCC Cares, partnered with well-known brands like P&G, GCash, ULSSI, Mondelez, and Purefoods. Together, they created a meaningful event that celebrated hope and courage for children bravely battling cancer.
The outreach brought smiles to the faces of 80 children who received thoughtfully prepared gift packs. Rachel Evangelista Pilapil, fundraising assistant at the House of Hope Foundation, warmly welcomed the NCCC team and its partners, expressing gratitude for their generous efforts.
The day was filled with joy as children and their families participated in fun games, activities, and lively entertainment. A clown brought laughter and cheer, while a special appearance by Mascot Davao, dressed as Mickey Mouse, created magical moments for the kids, many of whom eagerly took photos with the beloved character.
This heartwarming initiative was made possible by NCCC Supermarket’s loyal Sulit shoppers, whose support of the supermarket’s 46th Anniversary Benefit Show directly funded the children’s gift packs. This highlights how collective action, even through small contributions, can make a significant difference.
Community gift-giving events, like the one at the House of Hope Foundation for children with cancer, embody the true spirit of the holiday season—kindness, generosity, and the strength of collective action. While the joy of gifts and festive activities is undeniable, the lasting impact of these initiatives is even more profound. They not only bring immediate happiness to those in need but also nurture a sense of solidarity and hope within the community. DSCA
