TINGOG Party-List, a prominent political group closely aligned with Representative Yedda Marie Romualdez, wife of House Speaker Martin Romualdez, has announced the temporary suspension of its operations in Tacurong City effective Friday, May 16, 2025.
The announcement, made via the party-list’s official Facebook page, comes just days after Tingog secured a seat in the 2025 mid-term elections with 1,822,708 votes, placing it among the top three with the highest votes, based on the national certificate of canvass.
Despite its strong electoral performance, the party provided no explanation for the sudden halt in its operations, stating only that “operations are suspended until further notice."
The lack of clarity has sparked confusion and speculation online.
Netizens quickly took to social media to express their bewilderment, with many referencing popular internet memes in jest. Phrases such as “What hafen?” and “Asa ang budget ni Lalay?” circulated widely, hinting at growing public curiosity and skepticism over the unexpected closure.
On the same day, Tingog’s Mindanao headquarters, located in Davao City, issued a separate statement offering some context.
However, in a post, they acknowledged the toll of the campaign season on their team.
“Sa kadaugan ug kapildihan, magpabilin gihapon ang inyong TINGOG, ang tingog nga nagapaminaw ug nagaserbisyo para sa matag Dabawenyo ug Mindanawon. Apan sama sa tanan, kami pud tawo lamang. Ang atong mga kauban nga staff ug tibuok team gibati sa kalipay, kakapoy, ug kasubo human sa taas nga mga adlaw sa kampanya,” the political party said.
(In victory and in defeat, your TINGOG will remain, the voice that listens and serves every Davaoeño and Mindanaoan. But like everyone else, we are only human. Our staff and the entire team are feeling a mix of joy, exhaustion, and sadness after the long days of the campaign period).
“Tungod niini, temporary pang sarado ang atong satellite office aron makapahuway ug makabawi sa kusog ang atong mga kauban. Ayaw kabalaka, kami mubalik. Mubalik nga mas lig-on, ug mas kusog nga panerbisyo para sa inyong tanan,” they further explained.
(Because of this, our satellite office is temporarily closed to allow our team to rest and regain their strength. Don’t worry, we will return. We will come back stronger and with even greater service for all of you).
Tingog maintains more than 200 satellite offices nationwide, including in Davao City.
Founded on October 2, 2012, as Tingog Leytehon, the organization began as a provincial political party in Leyte. Its founding leaders included then-Governor Edgardo Enerlan and Representative Romualdez. It received official accreditation as a party-list group from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on August 19, 2015, enabling it to contest national elections starting in 2016.
Tingog failed to secure a seat in its first electoral bid in 2016, garnering 210,552 votes. It won its first seat in 2019 with 391,211 votes and expanded to two seats in 2022 after obtaining 886,959 votes. DEF
