A TRICYCLE driver involved in a road rage incident near the Matina Crossing traffic light in Davao City on Sunday night, July 6, 2025, is now facing frustrated murder charges after allegedly stabbing a taxi driver during an altercation.
The suspect, identified as Rande Delmar, was arrested during a hot pursuit operation launched by personnel of the Talomo Police Station just hours after the incident.
According to the initial police investigation, the altercation occurred after both vehicles, Delmar’s Honda XRM motorcycle and the victim’s Golden Taxi were observed aggressively swerving along Coastal Road in Talomo, hinting at an earlier traffic dispute.
Upon reaching Matina Crossing, witnesses said Delmar dismounted from his motorcycle, approached the taxi, forcibly opened the driver’s side door, and stabbed the victim, 22-year-old Rondo Dialang Mot, in the upper abdomen using a pair of scissors. He then fled the scene, abandoning his motorcycle.
Meanwhile, a concerned bystander rushed the injured taxi driver to the Talomo Police Station for assistance before he was brought to Davao Adventist Hospital for emergency treatment. He was later transferred to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) for further care.
Police recovered the weapon used in the attack; one half of the scissor blade was found at the crime scene, while the other half was in Delmar’s possession at the time of his arrest. His motorcycle has also been taken into police custody as evidence.
Talomo police formally filed a case of frustrated homicide against him on July 7.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Police Captain Hazel Caballero Tuazon, in an interview with dxdc RMN Davao, reminded motorists to remain calm and composed while on the road, emphasizing that driving is a livelihood meant to support one’s family, not a reason to engage in violence. DEF
