IMAGINE a world without sound. No conversations, music, the hum of vehicles, the calls of animals, or the gentle rustling of leaves in the wind. Imagine a soundless existence.
It's reminiscent of the movie A Quiet Place — a thriller where silence reigns, as any sound made by a character could attract a creature lurking nearby. While that’s a fictional scene, it prompts us to consider what life would be like in such a quiet world. Would life still be normal and happy?
One thing we cannot live without, aside from the basic needs essential for survival, is sound. At its simplest, sound is what we hear or listen to; it's how we express emotions. It makes life feel normal in every sense.
We communicate with others, share laughter with family and friends, enjoy our favorite shows, and listen to music. All of these elements contribute to a sense of normalcy.
However, today there exists a different kind of sound that conveys both truth and lies.
Rumors and gossip — often spread behind our backs or on social media—represent a form of noise that can cut deep. Even when not spoken directly to us, these whispers become the loudest sounds we hear.
Such negativity can tarnish our reputations and damage our mental health. It can affect personal relationships, professional opportunities, and social interactions. More often than not, it leads to conflict and, in the worst cases, war.
The cries of innocent victims echo painfully within us as we ponder why such injustices occur. Why do some individuals choose to hurt the vulnerable?
Then we have the witnesses—those who choose to remain silent to protect themselves and their families, or those who fabricate stories to silence others.
Truth and lies intersect sharply in our world.
When we share information that is not credible or spread fake news, we contribute to the cacophony of deceit. When we post stories that foster division among people, we amplify the sound of destruction.
What if we chose to remain silent? Would it matter?
No. The most deafening sound is, in fact, silence.
When we stay quiet about things that matter, we may only be left to dream of what could have been, never truly achieving it. In contrast, when we express ourselves in any form, we move closer to our goals.
Remaining silent when we feel angry or dissatisfied only creates a larger void. Over time, this gap becomes unrecognizable.
When we choose not to speak the truth we know out of fear of losing our jobs or straining relationships, we contribute to greater disparities. Yet, we cannot blame people for their silence; this is a world driven by survival.
Words can be turned against us, no matter how truthful they might be. Sometimes, we opt for silence simply because we believe our words will carry no weight.
The world is so noisy that even the truth often feels irrelevant.
Yet one undeniable truth remains: the existence of a Supreme Being who made us and all things possible. This truth transcends even scientific explanation. This is a truth we can boldly express.
Let us express ourselves and our ideas. Let us be the sound that humanity needs.
