THE Aklan Provincial Health Office (PHO) is sending 32 specimens to Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City to determine whether they are positive or negative for coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Dr. Cornelio Cuachon of the PHO said the specimens came from six confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province, five doctors, 17 patients under investigation (PUIs), and four from nearby Pandan, Antique.

"We are hoping that the six confirmed Covid positive will yield negative results," he said.

There has been no confirmed Covid-19 case in the province for almost a week already.

Meanwhile, Cuachon said that 12 out of 17 towns in the province have already achieved a "zero persons under monitoring (PUM)" status.

These include the towns of Lezo, New Washington, Banga, Batan, Buruanga, Libacao, Tangalan, Numancia, Madalag, Malay, Nabas and Malinao.

The towns that have both PUIs and PUMs are Kalibo, Altavas, Balete, Makato and Ibajay. (VoxPop Philippines)
