THE district of La Paz is now officially the 'Batchoy Capital' in Iloilo City.
Through a resolution, the Iloilo City Council declared the district as the capital of the famous Ilonggo dish, batchoy that was known to originate in the district.
The dish has been a part of Ilonggo's Intangible Cultural Heritage and hailed as an Ilonggo pride.
The resolution also abides the policy to recognize, organize, and provide support for tourism-related activities and programs.
The resolution was penned by the council's committee Tourism, Culture, and Historical Affairs chairman Councilor Candice Magdalane Tupas.
