MALASAKIT Center is now open at Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) to cater patients who need financial and medical assistance.
According to Presidential Consultant Jane Javellana, the center currently handles out and confined patients of the hospitals.
She said, the center aims to financially aid the bills of every patient in the hospital, not only for the indigents but "anybody."
"In the long run, with the constant payment in the hospitals, our money also decreases," Javellana said.
To avail the assistance, a representative can request or proceed to the center inside the aforementioned hospital for the patient's billing.
There will be assessments to be conducted and after, they should proceed to PhilHealth for another assistance and can continue to Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and Department of Health for further financial help of the hospital bill.
"What is good for the Malasakit Center is that, there is only one form to be used unlike before. They don't need to go to PCSO and then process this document early in the morning," Javellana said.
For outpatients, to employ with the assistance, they should submit the receipt of the doctor to the center for a referral letter to be able to acquire free medicines at the pharmacy of the hospital.
At present, the center covers less than a hundred patients daily, however, Javellana claimed that citizens as of now, might be not familiar of this program.
Previously, during the visit of Presidential Assistant to the President Christopher "Bong" Go in Iloilo, they donated about 15 million for the budget of the hospital and for a long-term service of the center.
Javellan stated that patients in private hospitals can also avail a financial assistance however with the help under DSWD and PCSO. It can also provide a hand for medications. (Carolyn Jane Abello)
