AUTHORITIES arrested Wednesday evening, May 2, two airport policemen allegedly involved in the extortion of taxi drivers picking up passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 2.
Airport Police Officers 1 Pablo Atayde Jr. and Danilo Levite Jr. were arrested by the Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF) in an entrapment operation at around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the NAIA terminal 2.
Philippine National Police CITF commander Chiquito Malayo said the two officers were arrested after receiving the marked money given by the CITF operative who posed as a driver.
Malayo said the operation stemmed from several reports through text messages received by their office from several complainants.
He said the cops were collecting P100 to P200 per taxi in order for them to be allowed to stay longer in the taxi bay while waiting for passengers.
The two police officers are now under the custody of the CITF pending the filing of appropriate charges in court. (VoxPop Philippines)
