PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde ordered on Tuesday, May 1, the relief of three policemen who were seen in a viral video confronting a family in Caloocan City following a traffic altercation.
PNP spokesperson John Bulalacao identified the three policemen as Police Officer 3 Ralph Soriano who is assigned at the Northern Police District and his brothers Police Officer 1 Rendel and Reniel, members of the Caloocan City Police Station and PNP-Drug Enforcement Group, respectively.
In a viral video uploaded by Jessie Malaya on Sunday, the Soriano brothers who were not in uniform could be seen confronting Jessie's father Ricardo in front of their residence on Mabini Street in Caloocan City on April 28, 2018.
They also tried to intimidate the Malaya family with their firearms, although they were warned of the election gun ban which prohibits anyone to carry their firearms outside their residence unless they were members of the law enforcement agency in active duty and in full uniform.
As of Tuesday, May 1, Jessie's post has gained over 28,000 reactions including angry emoticons and has been shared 79,831 times.
"Nagkagitgitan po sila (ni Reniel) sa daan ngayon dahil alam po ng papa ko na pulis siya iniwasan na po niya pero ginigitgit pa rin daw siya. Pagdating nila sa amin kala mo may operation bigla na lang hinarang 'yung mga motor sa gitna ng gate namin. Pagdating na pagdating pa lang nila nagmumura na," said Jessie.
"Inangat 'yung t-shirt kung saan nakasukbit 'yung mga baril nila, pumunta sila dito mga nakainom sabay may mga dalang baril, 'yung isa may dala pang posas. Then nung tinutukan namin ng mga cellphone, ang dami naming kumukuha ng video sa kanila, nangongopo na," he added.
Malaya said they have already filed charges against the Soriano brothers.
Bulalacao also said Caloocan City Police Office director Senior Superintendent Restituto Arcangel has initiated an investigation against the three policemen over alleged grave threat, grave oral defamation and alarm and scandal and violation of the Omnibus Election Code.
"Police director general Oscar Albayalde reiterated that police officers must always showcase discipline and should conduct themselves properly all the time," he said. (VoxPop Philippines)
