SIX more executive officers of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), including president and CEO Ricardo Morales, have signed a bank secrecy waiver.
This would allow the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) to check their bank transactions as part of the lifestyle check being conducted following corruption allegations in the agency.
Anakalusugan Party-list Representative Michael Defensor said Monday, August 17, 2020, that those who recently signed a bank secrecy waiver aside from Morales were Arnel de Jesus, Dennis Mas, Rodolfo del Rosario Jr., Francisco Soria, and Bernadette Lico.
This brings to 15 the number of PhilHealth officials who have signed a waiver. Most of them are members of the executive committee, according to spokesperson Shirley Domingo.
First to sign a waiver were Israel Francis Pargas, Nerissa Santiago, Renato Limsiaco Jr., Walter Bacareza, Jovita Aragona, Shirley Domingo, Gilda Diaz, Jonathan Mangaoang and Oscar Abadu Jr.
They heeded the call of Deputy Speaker Luis Raymund Villafuerte during the House committee hearing on Philhealth's alleged irregularities on Thursday, August 13.
Morales left the hearing Thursday before he could express whether or not he was willing to have his bank transactions checked.
