AUTHORITIES arrested on Tuesday, August 21, the son who stabbed to death his father in Mandaluyong City.
Mandaluyong City chief of police Senior Superintendent Moises Villaceran Jr. said Rolando Bonsato, 43, was arrested in a follow-up operation conducted by the Mandaluyong police in Barangay Barangka Ibaba. He is charged with parricide.
He cited the account of the suspect's neighbor Jimmy Reyes in Welfareville Compound, Barangay Addition Hills, who said he heard Rodolfo Bonsato, 64, shouting for help around 2 a.m. on August 20.
Another witness, Edwin San Gaspar, said he discovered the old man's blood-soaked body on his bed at around 7 a.m.
Both witnesses also said they often hear the Bonsantos quarrel over Rolando's alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
Police suspect the younger Bonsato was under the influence of illegal drugs during his arrest.
Meanwhile, the Regional Special Operations Unit, National Capital Region Police Office (RSOU, NCRPO) reported to NCRPO director Guillermo Eleazar the arrest of the number 2 most wanted person of the Taguig City Police Station identified as Jay-ar Iquiran, 24, in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on Tuesday, August 21.
Iquiran has a standing arrest warrant issued by Taguig City Regional Trial Court for murder charges in relation to the killing of a certain Marvie Repala on May 31, 2017 in Barangay Tuktukan, Taguig City.
The police said witnesses and CCTV footages positively identified Iquiran as one of the suspects in the killing of the victim. The other suspect was identified as Cedric Jocson. (VoxPop Philippines)
