Duterte names frat brod to Comelec

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has tapped Antonio Kho Jr. as commissioner of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), based on an appointment paper released by Malacañang on Friday, July 13.

Duterte signed Kho's appointment paper on July 11.

Kho replaced Sheriff Abas, a former Comelec commissioner who now heads the poll body.

Kho, a fraternity brother of Duterte at the San Beda University-based Lex Talionis Fraternitas, will serve as Comelec commissioner until February 2, 2022.

Prior to his new appointment, Kho was an undersecretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Kho resigned as DOJ official after the department's panel of prosecutors dismissed the charges against alleged top drug lords Kerwin Espinosa and Peter Lim. (Ruth Abbey Gita/VoxPop Philippines)
