IN RESPONSE to a priest's ill wishes, President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, September 8, prayed that Catholic Church leaders die of venereal disease.
Duterte issued the statement after Father Noel Gatchalian, who celebrated a Mass on Thursday, September 6, in support of embattled Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, joked that he wished for Duterte's illness.
"Sabi pa ng isang pari na mamatay ako. Huwag kang mag-alala Father, whether I die today, I die tomorrow, it does not matter to me. Tapos na ako. Ikaw, kulang ka pa sa happy-happy. Dagdagan mo ang mga girlfriend mo diyan. T*** i**, akala ninyo hindi namin alam?" Duterte told reporters in Davao City.
(A priest wished for my death. Don't worry, Father, whether I die today, I die tomorrow, it does not matter to me. I'm okay. I think you still need to enjoy life. Have more girlfriends. Son of a b****, do you think we don't know that?)
"Kung mamatay ako, tutal susunod ka rin. By the likes of you, itong pari to wish ill -- saan ka makakita ng pari dito na sana mamatay si Duterte? -- ade sabihin ko na lang din na mamatay sana kayong lahat ng venereal disease," he added.
(If I die, you will follow. By the likes of you, this priest to wish ill -- where do you find a priest who wish for Duterte to die? -- I will also say that may you all die of venereal disease.)
On September 19, communist founder Jose Maria Sison claimed that Duterte was comatose.
Duterte, however, denied Sison's allegation, telling the public on August 20 that he is "alive" and "fairly healthy." (VoxPop Philippines)
