LAWYER and former congressman Harry Roque will return as President Rodrigo Duterte's spokesperson Monday, April 13.

Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, who has been acting as spokesperson for more than a year now, confirmed this in a message to reporters Monday.

"Yup, Harry Roque will be back to his previous post. I am still the Chief Presidential Legal Counsel. I will be performing the same role as the President's chief lawyer and issuing statements as such," Panelo said.

In a statement, Panelo said the "Office of the Chief Presidential Legal Counsel will be working together with the Office of the Presidential Spokesperson, as well as with all the departments, in pursuing the national policy of the government, specially on Covid-19, and thereafter."

Roque served as President Rodrigo Duterte's spokesperson for about a year, from November 2017 to October 2018.

He stepped down to pursue a congressional seat in the 2019 elections. He, however, withdrew his candidacy, citing health reasons. (Jove T. Moya/VoxPop Philippines)
