PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has appointed actor-turned-politician Francisco Moreno Domagoso, popularly known as Isko Moreno, as undersecretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Moreno's appointment paper was released by Malacañang on Wednesday, May 9, a day after President Rodrigo Duterte signed it.

Before being appointed to the DSWD, the former actor was tapped by Duterte as member of North Luzon Railways board of directors in July last year.

His term at the government corporation was supposed to expire on June 30, 2018, but he tendered his "irrevocable resignation" in October 2017 because of "personal reason."

Moreno was a former Manila vice mayor who attempted but failed to secure a Senate seat in the 2016 senatorial race.

Aside from Moreno, Duterte on May 8 also named Sherwin Rigor as a new Environment Undersecretary, Antonio Joselito Lambino II as Finance assistant secretary, and Gerard Camiña as board member of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority. (Ruth Abbey Gita/VoxPop Philippines)
