A POLICE officer was arrested Thursday evening, March 7, in Sampaloc, Manila after he was caught in the act of sniffing illegal drugs, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Major General Guillermo Eleazar said on Friday, March 8.
Eleazar identified the arrested cop as Patrolman Ferdinand Cruz Rafael, who has been assigned at District Administrative Holding Unit of Manila Police District.
He said Rafael was arrested inside Room B #356, Calabasita Street in Barangay 539, Sampaloc, Manila around 11 p.m. Thursday, March 7.
The arrest stemmed from an information sent by a concerned citizen that Rafael is frequently visiting the room where illegal drugs transaction is ongoing.
"A video footage while actually sniffing illegal drugs (shabu) was also secured in the course of casing and surveillance by the operatives," said Eleazar.
A drug bust against Rafael was conducted after his involvement in illegal drugs was confirmed.
Recovered from his possession were 11 pieces of small heat-sealed sachets of "shabu" (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing around 15 grams with estimated P102,000 street value, digital weighing scale, assorted drug paraphernalia, and P1,000 marked money.
The arrested policeman was brought to the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit office for proper disposition. (VoxPop Philippines)
