Military identifies casualties in plane crash

THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) released on Friday, July 9, 2021, the names of the casualties in the C-130 plane crash in Patikul, Sulu.

The list shows that 49 military personnel, not 50 as earlier announced by the AFP, perished in the crash while 47 were injured. Three civilians were also killed and four others were hurt.

Of the 49 fatalities, 20 have been identified as follows:

Their families will receive a command special financial assistance, which will include the sum of their base pay, hazard pay and bonuses; funeral service support amounting to P80,000; and monthly pension based on rank and length of service.

Their beneficiaries will also receive support under the Office of the President's Comprehensive Social Benefits Program, which include special financial assistance worth P500,000 as well as shelter, health, education and employment assistance.

Personnel who are wounded in action will receive full reimbursement of hospitalization expenses, and special financial assistance from the Office of the President amounting to P250,000 for major injury or P100,000 for minor injury.

The Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefits Association Inc. will also give P12,000 to each of the wounded personnel.

They will also receive P10,000 each as approved by Philippine Army Commander Andres Centino and P15,000 from the 11th Infantry Division.

Former governor and now Sulu Vice Governor Abdusakur Mahail Tan pledged P15,000 for each of the wounded and P30,000 for the bereaved families of those who perished.

Senator Manny Pacquiao will also be giving P50,000 to each of the bereaved families and P20,000 to each injured soldier.

Davao City Representative Paolo Duterte and ACT-CIS Party-list Representative Eric Yap also pledged to give P5 million financial aid to the bereaved families and those who were injured in the incident. (VoxPop Philippines)
