THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has created a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to focus on the investigation on the slay of Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Rodel Batocabe.
"I have directed the creation of a Special Investigation Task Group to mobilize all available resources and to orchestrate all aspects of investigation to ensure that justice is served as soon as possible to both the victims and their families," PNP chief Oscar Albayalde said.
Albayalde also condemned the incident while he assured the bereaved families of Batocabe that the PNP will "get into the bottom of this sad incident."
"We appeal to the public to immediately report to the police any information that could lead us to the perpetrators and to help us quickly solve this case," he added.
In an update, Bicol Region police office director Chief Superintendent Arnel Escobal said there were at least six armed men who took part in the fatal shooting.
Batocabe was shot dead around 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, while in a gift giving activities with senior citizens and persons with disabilities in Barangay Burgos, Daraga, Albay.
His security aide, Senior Police Officer 2 Orlando Suruiz Diaz was also killed in the incident.
Batocabe obtained eight gunshot wounds in the body while Diaz had six including two in the head.
Escobal said seven other people were injured in the said incident. (VoxPop Philippines)
