JOLLIBEE opened its 991st store along Ma-a Road Friday, beginning its Road to 1000 Stores by first quarter of 2017. The 115th store in Mindanao and 26th in Davao City, the Ma-a store brings in the Jollibee message of growing with its community. Built from the ground up, Jollibee Ma-a is the first international fastfood outlet in that part of the city.
Jollibee PR and Events Manager Dennis C. Reyes said the nine other stores that will complete the count up to 1000 will be spread all over the Philippines.
"Para well-represented anglahat," he said during the blessing of the building last Thursday. Jollibee specifically chose to locate their 991st in Davao as a symbol of its simple beginnings. It was from a restaurant that brought Tony Tan Caktiong's family to Davao.
From Fujian province in China, the family first migrated to the Philippines where Tan's father worked as a chef in a Chinese temple. From there, the father was invited to run a restaurant in Davao City, which eventually the whole family managed and made to prosper, which allowed the children to have a good education.
"Dito nagsimula ang mga owners," Reyes said in explaining why the count up starts here. Mindanao's first Jollibee outlet is also in Davao City.
The Jollibee Bolton was the 100th outlet. They are also upbeat about the prospects in Davao knowing that it is the commercial hub of Mindanao. (PR)
