MARAWI CITY -- The Lanao del Sur Provincial Government is finalizing its plans to set up tent cities for the possible return of internally displaced persons in this city who fled their homes during the Marawi siege.
Almost 100 percent of residents here were gravely affected when the Maute Terror Group attacked this city on May 23, where at least 200,000 individuals evacuated their homes.
Brigadier General Ramiro Rey, Task Force Ranao commander said that the agency is in coordination with the local government for the “recovery and rehabilitation” of this city.
During the visit of President Rodrigo Duterte in an evacuation center in Iligan City last Tuesday, the president noted that the government has allocated P20 billion for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of this city.
Rey also said that aside from the “tent city”, there will also be mass graves.
“We still don’t have count on how many bodies to be interned at the mass graves,” said Rey.
He noted that there are at least 250 Maute members who died during the ongoing crisis.
