Swim and survive clinic opens Monday

THE Philippine Lifesaving Society-Davao will hold its 6th batch of Swim and Survive, a lifesaving swimming program, slated on May 15 to 19 at Skyline Poolside in Catalunan Grande, Davao City.

Swim and Survive chief instructor Ipe Aliño, who is also a Philippine Life Saving-accredited instructor, told VoxPop that the program is in line with the Royal Life Saving Australia the aims to develop swimming, personal survival, water safety, and basic rescue skills for children five to 14 years old.

Aliño said, adding that it also provides the essential strands for safe water entries and exits, underwater and body orientation, basic rescue, survival skills and development of strong and effective swimming technique.

Aliño will be joined by assistant instructors Daryl Almazar and Aejae Tabamo.

For the past five batches, Swim and Survive catered to 65 participants.

The five-session program, which is in collaboration with the International Life Saving (ILS), will cover two hours of training per session.

The clinic schedule: five to 10 years old - 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 11-above - 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Registration is pegged at P2,850 inclusive of pool fees and certificate of participation.
