THREE people, including a village official, were wounded in an ambush in a remote area in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police said Sunday.
Zamboanga del Norte Police Director Edwin Wagan said the incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Saturday in the village of Nebo, Sergio Osmena municipality.
Wounded were Carlito Rallao, the village chief of Kauswagan, Sergio Osmena and his wife, Susan and Emilio Matiag, a village watchman (tanod).
Wagan said Rallao’s daughter Tresian, 11, and another companion identified as Rogelio Tawi were unscathed during the incident.
Investigation showed the victims were aboard a multicab vehicle on the way home coming from the village of Nebo when unidentified gunmen ambushed them.
Wagan said the police of Sergio Osmeña town are conducting thorough probe to determine the motive of the incident as well as unmask the suspects.
