TWELVE illegal fishers in the seawaters off Barangay Atop-atop, Bantayan, northern Cebu were arrested last Sunday morning, June 11.
The team led by Senior Police Officer 1 Agustin Sazpa made the arrest after the fishermen were seen catching fish in the sanctuary, a violation of the Fisheries Code of the Philippines.
Arrested were Lemar Escaran Ofqueria, Roman Flores Derder, Joseph Ofqueria Adan, Jennifer Demoral Villabrelle, Jason Batiancila Derder, Christopher Gilbuena Dicdican, Rofo Flores Derder, Gullas Illut Ofaga, Pascual Robrillo Adan, Eran Derder Illut, Ronnie Derder Ofaga and Ronilo Caraballe Ofaga.
Seized from them were three kilos of fish, their motor boat, an engine and a net. (KAL/VoxPop Cebu)
