CASTROL - Yokohama Champion driver Inigo Anton, at 12 years old, became the youngest winner of the Front Wheel Best time of the Day and Novice best time of the day in the 30 year history of Slalom Racing in the Philippines.
The incoming Grade 8 student from the Baguio Achievers’ Academy beat his father and racing legend Carlos and over 35 racers to take the historic win during the 5th leg of the Phoenix National Slalom Series held at Novaliches.
Iñigo then backed it up by repeating the feat in the 6th round in Pampanga showing the racing community it was no fluke. The father and son pair also took top honors in their championships winning the Tarlac Circuit Hill 4th round earlier in June.
“The time finally came, Iñigo beat me fair and square, and he did it twice just for good measure,” proud father and racing icon Carlos said.
Iñigo also came in a close 2nd to Overall winner Milo Rivera during the 6th round.
“As much as I don't want to say it, I'm sure he will be out there to beat me already. He has made waves and he deserves all praise and recognition. I really look forward to going head-to-head with him again,” says the three time Slalom King Milo Rivera.
The father and son tandem on board the Mark Young-Mohspeed prepared Honda EF also took home over 25 division wins and padded their leads at the halfway point of their respective Novice and FWD championships.
Carlos and Anton have now won five of the six rounds this year.
