AT LEAST 142 colorum tricycles were impounded by the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) at the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) headquarters in the past four days.
Of the 142 units, 27 were seized in Barangay Mandalagan; 75 in Barangays Mansilingan and Alijis; 19 in Capitol Shopping Center; 11 in Barangay Sum-ag; and 10 in the area of the University of St. La Salle.
Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, officer-in-charge of BTAO, said they conducted the apprehension of operators after they received complaints from tricycle associations in the affected barangays.
"We already accomplished 70 percent in our operation against colorum tricycles," Acebuche said.
Colorum tricycle operators paid a fine of P1,500 plus additional charges for other violations, he added.
Acebuche said their next operation will be the apprehension of pedicabs crossing the main thoroughfares.
