THE traffic team has confiscated a total of 142 vehicles during a surprise joint operation dubbed as Oplan Lambat Bitag Sasakyan on Thursday, August 24, that seeks to capture stolen and delinquent vehicles in Davao City.
Davao City police spokesperson Ma. Teresita Gaspan said on Friday the operation targets illegal vehicles that lack certificate, registration, and other documents to ply the major thoroughfares in the city.
Of the seized vehicles, there were 112 motorcycles, 26 motorcycles with illegal attachment (sidecars), four four-wheeled vehicles, and three with detached plate (motorcycle).
All impounded vehicles are under the custody of DCPO.
Also, a total of 305 driver's licenses were confiscated and drivers were given temporary operating permit (TOP) for violation of the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.
The operation started at around 3 p.m. and ended at 6 p.m.
The joint operation was conducted by DCPO, Task Force Davao, Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office, Land Transportation Office, and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
