THE Visayan Electric Company (Veco) will be implementing 1.5-hour rotational outages in Cebu City, Mandaue and Consolacion and Liloan this afternoon, September 5.
Veco said this is due to the red alert warning issued by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) caused by power generation deficiency.
As of 2:28 p.m. Tuesday, the Visayas had a projected load capacity of only 1,907 megawatts (MW), lower than the projected peak load of 1,915 MW for the day, according to the NGCP website.
Areas that are currently experiencing or may possibly be affected by the rotating outages are the following:
Veco said the power outages Tuesday morning was due to the sudden shutdown of some power plants, including the solar power plants in Negros (shutdown at 8:05 a.m.), Palm Concepcion Power plant in Iloilo and Toledo Power Company plant in Cebu (shutdown at 8:20 a.m.). (VoxPop Philippines)
