15 Luzon areas under signal number 1 due to 'Maring'

FIFTEEN areas in Luzon were placed under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number 1 as Tropical Depression Maring maintained its strength and moved toward Quezon-Aurora area, the state weather bureau reported on Monday evening, September 11.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 11 p.m. bulletin that Maring is expected to make landfall on Tuesday afternoon, September 12, over Quezon-Aurora area

Pagasa said Maring brings maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph.

Areas under signal number 1 are Metro Manila, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Northern Quezon including Polillo Island, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Quirino, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, and Aurora.

The weather bureau said moderate to occasionally heavy rains will be experienced over Bicol region, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Pangasinan. (VoxPop Philippines)
