MARCONS Construction Incorporated’s plan to expand their high-rise building has been shot down.
During the Council session Monday afternoon, both City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO) Nazita Banez and City Planning and Development Officer Evelyn Cayat thumbed down plans by Mariano Garcia of Marcons Construction Incorporated to expand present construction to 16 a storey structure saying it is against the city environment code as well as the new zoning ordinance.
The present permit Marcons Construction Incorporated holds is for the construction of an 11-storey structure [6-storey building and 5-storey parking] which has irked residents of the surrounding Upper Genral Luna – Leonard Wood - Salud Mitra areas because of noise, ground shaking, road damage and cracks to their properties.
Mariano Garcia with the company spokesman, John Garcia, faced the city council with residents and barangay officials of Salud Mitra present to air their concerns and fears.
Salud Mitra resident, Lorie Damasco complained of road damage, noise from the construction as well as fears of non repair and further expansion while Leilani Lachica bemoaned of cracks to her property since the construction started.
The Garcia’s vowed to repair what they have damaged to the roads as well as the property of residents if proven to be because of the construction.
The company appeared before the council upon the summons of Councilor Edgar Avila after complaints from residents flooded his office.
Avila noted many complaints against Marcons Construction Incorporated surrounding its construction at Upper Genral Luna – Leonard Wood- Salud Mitra area endangering not only the lives but properties of adjoining community but also destroying the adjoining roads in front of the property. What would be left of the road even if it is a one-way traffic danger as the foundations will be eroded, denying ingress and egress to the people.
Avila said “While Marcons Construction Incorporated have acquired the necessary building permits and Environmental Compliance Certificates, reports that it may additional floors or widened construction require new permits and clearances as it would affect traffic, parking spaces and water which ultimately affect the entire community.”
During the inquiries Marcons Construction Incorporated revealed plans to expand their construction which was quickly denied by city officials.
