1st Montilla-Lizares beach volley lures 8 teams

TOP lady spikers from Manila and Visayas Region are expected to meet in Sipalay City on March 30 to 31 for the first Montilla-Lizares Invitational Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament.

The event, which is part of the city’s 16th Charter Day Anniversary, attracted eight teams from BVR-Manila, and cities of Iloilo, Dumaguete, Bacolod and host-Sipalay.

Among the teams seeing action are Beach Volleyball Republic’s Bea Tan and Amanda Villanueva; Jackie Estoquia and Dhannylaine Mae Demontano of Team Iloilo; University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos’s Erjane Magdato and Alexa Polidario;

Jennifer Cosas and Rosel Sy of Toby’s Bacolod; Colegio San Agustin- Bacolod’s Kathleen Tagudando and Therese Caunga; FPA-Dumaguete’s Edna Rose Dicen and Reizel Mae Calis; Team Gra-Sha’s Graciela Millezo and Shaira Lim; and Sipalay City’s Aira Bless Moreno and Julie Ann Samonte.

Before the tournament unfolds, a three-day volleyball clinic for kids will be held at Sipalay City gym on March 26 to 28 dubbed “Teach Them Young and Learn to Play the Right Way.” This is an outreach program of Foundation University-Institute of Youth Sports for Peace-Cares.

This sport tourism event is co-organized by Pasaway Foundation Inc. and supported by Mayor Oscar C. Montilla Jr. and the Sipalay City Council.

The event will be supervised by Nathaniel Jan Celiz alongside tournament manager and co-organizer Roger Banzuela, executive vice president for Visayas of the Philippine Volleyball Federation.

It will be officiated by the Negros Occidental Volleyball Association-NIR referees. (HGD)
