THE Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF) has arrested two rookie cops for allegedly extorting money from a man they accused of rape.
Police Officers 1 Leomer Redondo Suarez and Allan Madrigal, both assigned to the National Capital Region Police Office, were arrested in an entrapment operation on Thursday in Pasay City, around 9 p.m.
Police Chief Inspector Jewel Nicanor, CITF spokesperson, said they conducted the operation after they received a complaint from a man who is accused of raping Suarez's cousin.
Suarez and Madrigal allegedly demanded P200,000 from the suspect in exchange for the non-filing of the criminal case against him. But the suspect offered P50,000 committing to pay P10,000 for five months.
CITF operatives recovered the P10,000 marked money from the erring policemen during the operation.
It learned that Suarez was just reinstated after being absent without leave (Awol) since August 2014, while Madrigal is still on Awol status.
Nicanor said the erring cops and the woman who acted as complainant against the man being accused of rape were brought to the CITF office in Camp Crame for the filing of criminal complaints. (VoxPop Philippines)
