TWO fraternity organizations inked an agreement to stop hazing as an initiation rite with the help of the local police.
Senior Inspector Deni Mari Orbin Pedrozo, Oslob town police chief, said they took the initiative to gather the two groups in order to help in their fight against illegal drugs and other forms of criminality.
"Naging concern kasi ng community yung pagdami ng fraternity, so that it is one of our projects para mas ma involve sila sa community and to let the public know what a fraternity is for," Pedrozo said.
Representatives from Tau Gamma Phi and Alpha Kappa Rho signed a pledge of commitment, which also included promises not to practice hazing and "ignite fraternity war", earlier this week.
Both fraternities have a history of violence in the past.
Pedrozo said he witnessed the pact with Oslob Mayor Jun Tumulak and representatives from Department of Education and the town's parish.
The fraternities' officials, Pedrozo said, promised that they will help maintain Oslob's peace and order. (KAL/VoxPop Cebu)
