TWO unidentified men were found dead in separate incidents in Negros Oriental on Wednesday, May 17.
Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo) acting Director Henry Biñas said both men were probably “salvage victims” who were killed in the same location and left in different areas by unidentified perpetrators.
The body of the first victim was found at a cliff in Sitio Cantulingi, Barangay Manlipac, Bais City around 12:50 p.m.
A resident noticed a white pick-up truck parked near the area around 11 a.m. A man’s body, which had bruises and wounds, was later found inside a sack.
The victim was 5’4” tall and around 50 years old.
Biñas said they have yet to establish if a vehicle was really used by the perpetrators.
In the evening, another victim was found at the adjacent municipality of Manjuyod around 6 p.m.
Senior Inspector Rogelio Pacificar, town police chief, said the victim was discovered by a fisherman 70 meters away from the highway at Sitio Himampangon, Barangay Balaas.
The man was also found inside a sack tied with a rope. A note printed on the sack stated, “Adik ako. Huwag Tularan.” (I am a drug user. Do not follow what I do). He also sustained bruises.
The victim was 5’5” tall and around 40 years old.
Biñas said the two incidents might have been perpetrated by the same people, who wanted to divert the focus of the police.
He added that they will investigate if the crimes were committed by vigilantes, although he said there are no vigilante groups in the province.
