TWO women were nabbed by authorities on Friday, October 21, at the Diaz Mall in Davao City after they were caught falsifying government documents.
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Southern Mindanao Regional Office and Davao City Anti-scam unit led by Dionisio Abude jointly arrested Celestyne Magtuba, 34, layout artist, and Ronnie Joy Trinidad, 34, graphic artist, in an entrapment operation at around 12:30 p.m.
NBI acting Regional Director Arnold Rosales said the entrapment operation was arranged after they have confirmed reports that falsified documents like NBI clearance were made in the area where the two are working.
The operative seized fake documents such as NBI clearance, Land Transportation Office license, Professional Regulation Commisson identification cards, transcript of records, medical certificates ,and receipts.
The Anti-Scam Unit and the NBI-Davao also confiscated the printers and other equipments used to make fake documents.
The suspects will face charges for violation of Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code or the Falsification by private individual and use of falsified documents and Article 176 Revised Penal Code or the manufacturing and possession of instruments for falsification.
Rosales also warned that those who are using fake documents especially manufactured by these shops may also be penalized by law.
The two suspects are currently detained at the NBI Regional Office. (KVC)
