20 coaches attend wushu event

A TOTAL of 20 coaches were present during the King's Sword Martial Arts-organized 1st Mindanao Invitational Wushu Sanda Championship held at the NCCC Mall Davao recently.

King's Sword chief instructor Nell Jone Astudillo, in a Facebook conversation with VoxPop Davao, said the coaches were from different parts of Mindanao including M'lang in North Cotabato, Kidapawan City, Panabo City, Tagum City, General Santos City, Bukidnon, and Iligan City. Davao City took the coaching and officiating course.

Apart from the basic knowledge of Wushu Sanda, the clinic also taught the vital aspects including character building, values formation, discipline and spiritual guidance.

Astudillo said there were also a total of 42 Wushu artists who showed their wares in the 1st Mindanao Invitational Wushu Sanda Championship which was slated the day after the coaching and officiating course.

The event's purpose was to promote the sport among the athletes in Mindanao and help develop the growing wushu community.

Astudillo plans to hold its second edition in November through their legit partnership with NCCC Mall Davao and the support of Sports Development Division-City Mayors Office.
