THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has conducted 21 operations against illegal gambling from July 1 to August 9.
BCPO Acting Director Jack Wanky said on Thursday, August 10, the anti-illegal gambling operations in all 10 police stations have positive results with the arrest of 21 bet collectors.
Wanky said there are the usual gambling operators in the city, but the police continuously monitor their illegal activities.
Also being monitored is a retired policeman allegedly involved in illegal gambling.
He added that the information about a financier from Laguna is also being validated, but Wanky said operators from other places cannot easily come to the city.
On July 31, Director General Ronald de la Rosa, chief of Philippine National Police, issued an order to all city, provincial and regional directors to stop illegal numbers game, particularly jueteng, within 15 days.
Chief Superintendent Edmund Gonzales, acting director of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region, has given the city and provincial directors and all police chiefs in the region the same ultimatum even before De la Rosa issued the directive.
The 15-day ultimatum in the region ended on August 8.
