AUTHORITIES arrested two persons and intercepted 21 illegal firearms bound for Ozamiz City last Sunday night at a port in Cebu City.
The port police arrested Richel Vallejo Puno, 40, from Talamban, Cebu City, and Euligiano Bueno Camance Jr., 43, from Guinacot, Danao City, who both yielded 17 .45 caliber handguns and four .38 caliber revolvers.
Glenn Sarador, Cebu Ports Authority's security manager, said that they received an intelligence report of an attempt to smuggle loose firearms in the pier last Saturday.
Even if the report said that the smuggling will be done on Saturday and it didn't push through, the CPA still deployed the port police until Sunday.
"We caught them trying to avoid the x-ray machine for their bag to be screened but we made sure that it passed there and the guns were discovered," Sarador said. (JOB/VoxPop Cebu)
