21st Milo Little Olympics kicks off

THE 21st Milo Little Olympics officially kicked off in front of the jam-packed crowd at the Cebu City Sports Center Thursday, September 8.

To inspire the budding athletes, two Of Cebu’s top runners -- Mary Joy Tabal and Samantha Limos -- carried the torch to mark the start of the 21st Milo Little Olympics Visayas Leg, which will run until Sunday, September 11.

Tabal, a marathoner, was fresh from her stint in the 2016 Rio Olympics, while Limos recently won bronze medal in the 6th Children of Asia Games in Russia.

Abellana National School's (ANS) Mary Claire Briones and USJ-R's Angela Marie Gilstrap were named the winners of the 21st Miss Milo Little Olympics.

Briones was crowned in the secondary division, while Gilstrap snagged the elementary division title.

Amanda Basnillo of USPF was the first runner-up in the secondary division, while Althea May Uy of ANS Night School claimed the second runner-up honor.

Margie Raye Markland of Monterey School Incorporated took first runner-up in the elementary division and Niña Blythe Boniel of Mabolo Elementary School bagged second runner-up.

The games will officially start Friday, September 9, in different playing venues in Cebu. (VoxPop Cebu)
