MORE than 2,300 contractual workers in Mandaue City will start receiving their gratuity pay of P2,000 and an additional P3,000 as adjustment of their honorarium for the last six months anytime this month or January next year.

City Mayor Gabriel Luis “Luigi” Quisumbing has signed the ordinance approved by the City Council last November granting gratuity pay to City Hall workers engaged through job orders and contract of service.

r“We just adjusted their allowances or honorarium for the last 6 months of the year. Hence, they will receive an adjustment around P3,000. Hopefully we can release it by the end of the year or in January, but funds are ready,” Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna said.

Those who can receive this must “have rendered an aggregate or a total of at least 4 months satisfactory service as of December 15, 2016 and whose contracts are still effective as of same date.”

Fortuna said the JOs and COS will also receive P3,000 as an adjustment of their allowance.

Meantime, JOs who were hired this year will not receive the gratuity pay but only the P3,000 adjustment.

On January 31, this year, President Rodrigo Duterte signed Administrative Order 02 granting gratuity pay to contract workers in government. (FMG/VoxPop Cebu)\
