APALIT --- Three barangays here were declared “drug-cleared” by the local police chief and Mayor Peter C. Nucom in the presence of a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) representative and barangay officials in a pronouncement ceremony at the Sangunian Bayan session hall early Wednesday.
Apalit Chief of Police PSupt. Wilson Alicuman said the drug-cleared status of barangays Balucuc, Colgante and Paligui was the result of barangay drug clearing operations in Central Luzon which kicked of July 2016 during the assumption of office of President Rodrigo Duterte.
PDEA-3 was represented by Public Information Officer Glenn Guillermo who noted that based on their records, there are 817 drug-cleared barangays in Central Luzon as of October 24, 2016.
“The relentless campaign against illegal drugs by the Philippine National Police and PDEA plus the support of local government units and the mandatory establishment of a reformatory center or Bahay-Pagbabago in every municipality made all these possible,” Guillermo told Sun.Star Pampanga.
