A MAN and his two nephews died after their motorcycle collided with a tanker truck at Kilometer 13.5, Barangay Taloc in Bago City, Negros Occidental around 2 a.m., Monday.
Superintendent David Cachumbo Jr., chief of Bago City Police Station, identified the fatalities as Lonie Benguelo, and Eljohn and Gerald Iña, all residents of Barangay Balingasag.
Investigation showed the three were on their way home when they hit the rear of truck parked beside the road . The victims succumbed to head injuries.
Cachumbo said tanker truck driver Jessie Arguillon parked to unload molasses.
There is a possibility that the driver was speeding and did not see the early warning device, he added.
Arguillon, who is detained at Bago City Police Station, will be released if the victims’ families could not pursue charges against him within 18 hours.
Negotiation between the two parties is ongoing, the police chief said.
Last week, a man died while his two sons were injured after their motorcycle figured in an accident along the highway of Purok Balunggay, Barangay Pacol in Valladolid town.
The fatality was identified as Pacifico Libe Jr., 59. His children were aged 14 and 9.
The family from Purok Sunflower, Barangay Lacaron were on their way home from a fiesta when Libe lost control of the motorcycle which went through a sugarcane field.
In Hinigaran town, Mieko Janssen Vargas, 32, of Dancalan, Ilog town died after his motorcycle collided with a cargo truck parked along the highway of Barangay Pilar last Saturday.
The truck was driven by Jeffrey Marfil, 22, of Barangay Antipolo, Pontevedra town.
