THE Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) in Northern
Mindanao on Tuesday, October 17, arrested three suspects allegedly involved in making fake government documents along Chavez Street, Divisoria, Cagayan de Oro City.
Armed with a search warrant, authorities nabbed Ramonito Lopez and Israel Fuentes for the said offense. They also arrested one Sallahudin Sumpingan in an entrapment operation in same area.
Seized from their possessions were assorted computer equipment and peripherals including assorted falsified documents.
Police Officer 2 (PO2) Ritchell Mañabo, ACG-10 spokesperson and chief investigator, said the suspects were known to have been fabricating government identifications and other documents such as Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), government issued licenses, marriage and birth certificates, among others.
"Naa ni sila mga stalls sa area kung asa sila gahimo sa mga fake nga mga documents. Ang atong operation is entrapment then implementation sa search warrant," Mañabo said.
"Ang atong poseur customer nagbayad og P150 pahimo og TIN then pagdawat gikasa nato ang entrapment then giserve dayon ang warrant sa atbang mga stalls," Mañabo added.
Mañabo said the operation stemmed from an intelligence report and complaints regarding the suspects' illegal activities.
A disc containing the software used in making fake documents was also recovered.
Mañabo said the outputs look genuine and closely similar to the original documents being issued only by government offices.
"These are subject for verification sa mga lain-laing agencies para ma-prove nato nga tinuod ba o dili kay walay lain gahimo og ga-issue ani nga mga documents kundili mga government agencies lang gyud," Mañabo said.
Mañabo said the suspects will face charges for violation of article
172 of the Revised Penal Code or falsification of public documents.
