CHARGES for cybersex, child abuse, and anti-trafficking in persons were filed against three women before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office on Saturday, May 6.
Police withheld the name of the suspects.
Police Station 10 head Ramel Bustamante said the suspects aged 20, 35, and 43 are all detained at the station's custodial facility.
The suspects were arrested in a joint entrapment operation at Barangay Handumanan last Friday, following the recent apprehension of a man in the United States for engaging in cybersex activities and for having videos and photos of a minor residing in Bacolod.
Three female minors, not only one based on the initial report from the police, were rescued.
One of the minors was reportedly exploited for prostitution by her own mother, who was one of the three suspects arrested in the operation.
The three minors are now in the custody of the City Department of Social Services and Development.
The operation was conducted by the Women and Children Protection Center-Visayas Field Unit 7 with the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of Bacolod City Police Office in coordination with the WCPD of the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters.
Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, officer-in-charge of Bacolod City Police Office, said Friday that a man in the United States was recently arrested for engaging in cybersex activities.
Authorities found in his computer files videos and pictures of a minor, who was identified to be based in Bacolod.
Wanky said cybercrime authorities in the US contacted their counterpart in the PNP national headquarters, which endorsed the case to the WCPD.
