SOME 30 schools have confirmed participation in the 21st University Games (Unigames) this coming October 20-28 in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
However, University of St. La Salle, which founded Unigames in 1996 through the late Bro. Rolando Dizon, will skip the competition for the first time this year.
Sister schools De La Salle-Araneta University-Manila, De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, De La Salle-Lipa, De La Salle-Dasmariñas and De La Salle University have already confirmed their participation.
Also not seeing action is St. Louis University of Baguio.
In a communiqué, Unigames president Roger Banzuela stated that among those schools which confirmed are three Negros Occidental-based colleges, including Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod, Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias, and Riverside College, and the Foundation University in Dumaguete City.
Panay-based schools seeing action are University of San Agustin of Iloilo City, and Roxas City’s Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion and Hercor College. Cebu has University of San Jose-Recoletos and Southwestern University.
Other Manila and Luzon schools are Adamson University, Centro Escolar University, Far Eastern University, Rizal Technological Universities, San Beda College, University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta, University of Sto. Tomas, University of the Philippines-Diliman, Holy Angels University- Pampanga, and Naga College Foundation.
From Mindanao are Holy Cross of Davao College, Jose Maria College, University of Mindanao, and University of the Immaculate Conception, and Cor Jesu College-Davao del Sur, and University of Mindanao-Tagum College.
Schools which have yet to submit the reply slip but expressed intention to join are Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, Cebu’s University of San Carlos and University of San Jose-Recoletos, and National University and University of the East.
Other usual participating schools have yet to confirm.
