THIRTY-SIX gymnasts from Western Visayas, Zamboanga del Sur, and Manila have already confirmed their participation in the 1st JGM Masskara Invitational on October 13 to 14 at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School.
The gymnasts in Western Visayas will come from provinces of Aklan, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental, particularly from the cities of Bacolod and Himamaylan.
Among the categories are developmental, pre-junior, junior, and senior seeing action in events of freehand, ball, hoop, clubs, rope and ribbon.
Organizer Tina Alagaban said the event serves as an encouragement that winning is possible if there is a venue for this sport to develop.
“We want to further improve the sports where we have competed at the national level as well in the recent Singapore Open,” she added.
Alagaban said her daughter Kiana, a mainstay of Tay Tung and a gold medalist in the elementary level during the 2017 Palarong Pambansa, is proof of the chances of provincial players to excel.
Brevet judge from the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines will head the judges’ table. (HGD)
