THE National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) in Davao Region has recorded 363 labor cases filed from January to April this year.
Data obtained from the NLRC showed that of the 363 labor cases, there were 84 cases filed before the office in April.
There were already 287 cases disposed of in the same period, of which some were already settled and decided while others are still under investigation.
NLRC-Davao executive labor arbiter lawyer Elmer Ben Pasion said the usual complaints are illegal termination coupled with underpayment of salaries and non-payment in other labor standard services.
Aside from the local areas, the NLRC also recorded 19 cases of labor complaint from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), who were victimized by contract and salary differential issues.
Pasion said these OFWs are against their recruiters and foreign principals/employers.
The main mandate of the NLRC is to adjudicate labor and management disputes involving both local and overseas workers through compulsory arbitration and alternative modes of dispute resolution.
