4 Murcia villages drug-free

BARANGAYS Damsite, Iglau-an, Canlandog and Cansiliyan in Murcia, Negros Occidental have been declared drug-free, police said.

Murcia has a total of 23 barangays.

Senior Superintendent William Senoron, acting police provincial director, said 84 out of 601 barangays in Negros Occidental have been declared drug-free, making the province slightly-drug affected.

The declaration of a drug-free barangay is based on the parameters set by the Dangerous Drugs Board as reflected on the consolidation and validation report of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Philippine National Police from report of the Barangay Drug Abuse Council.

An area is considered slightly drug-affected when less than two percent of total barangay population are drug personalities (users, pushers, financiers).
