AT LEAST 40 houses were razed by the fire that hit a residential area in Villa Zacate, Barangay Basak, Cebu City, on Thursday night, August 24.
The fire bureau said the fire started in the residence of Jun-jun Regudo after an unattended lighted candle fell on a cloth.
Most of the structures in the affected area were made of light materials.
Damage of properties was estimated at P350,000.
Fire fighters received the alarm at 6:24 p.m., and on 7:53p.m. the alarm was raised to Task Force Alpha.
Task Force Alpha means that all fire stations, including those of the neighboring cities, shall respond.
According to City Fire Marshal Rogelio Bongabong Jr. the fire was declared under control at 8:20 p.m. (KAL/VoxPop Cebu)
